With their classic wooden hulls and majestic sails, the international Tall Ships Races are an impressive sight that conjures up visions of the high seas.
The seventh edition of the races began on Friday 22 July in Antwerp. The whole weekend until Sunday, visitors were able to see dozens of impressive sailing ships docked at the Scheldt quays and the Eilandje free of charge. Around 850,000 spectators visited the event.
A crew parade took place Saturday, while the Bollekesfeest took place on the Grote Markt and Groenplaats, complete with live entertainment on the programme and a firework display to close off Saturday night.

The Tall Ships Races is a competition between sailing ships that aims, among other things, to introduce young people to the sea and sailing.
Today the ships are lifting their anchors and heading to their next stop – Aalborg, Denmark.
