The occupancy rates of Brussels hotels returned to pre-Covid levels in July, with the summer of festivals and concerts playing a huge role in the tourism industry's recovery.

According to the Brussels Hotels Association, the occupancy rate for hotels in the month of July was 66.6%, which is only 8.2% lower than the record year of 2019.

This rate was 63.1% on weekdays (10.7% lower than three years ago) and 71% on weekends, just 5.5% lower than in 2019.

According to visit.brussels, the capital's tourism centre, these figures can be attributed to the loosening of Covid-19 measures, with numerous events drawing national and foreign tourists, particularly festivals such as Couleur Café, Tomorrowland, and Rock Werchter.

However, visit.brussels has observed that business travel is still somewhat lacking behind pre-pandemic figures; attempts are underway to address this by providing hybrid congress formulas to organisers.
