On Thursday, the Brussels Government approved the first two Axis and Block contracts (CACI) aimed at de-densifying and greening specific blocks in the municipalities of Molenbeek and the City of Brussels, with the resulting programmes due by the end of 2023.
The region's Minister-President Rudi Vervoort, who is also the Minister for Urban Renewal, has announced that €10 million, will be devoted to the project aimed at the central municipalities of the capital that lack green spaces accessible to the public.
Especially, as these are areas priorities in offering a better quality of life to Brussels, all while leading the fight against the effects of global warming.

In a statement, Vervoort stated that "neighbourhood contracts have enabled the creation and planning of more than 13 hectares of green spaces accessible to the public" adding that this "will allow us to meet the needs and wants of the people of Brussels!"
The City of Brussels will work on the “Querelle” block project, in the Marolles area, where as Molenbeek will work to reduce the density of the “Courtrai Ostende” axis, near Gare de l'Ouest.
