Following reports that a Federal Road Police commissioner embezzled €30,000 from different traffic fines, Federal Justice Minister Vincent Van Quickenborne wants to eliminate the possibility of paying these fines in cash.

On Monday, it was reported that an East Flanders traffic police commissioner was accused of stealing up to €30,000 in fines paid in cash by foreign truck drivers.

As a result, Federal Justice Minister Van Quickenborne now wants to eliminate the possibility of paying by card. The plan is from now onwards, any driver who is unable to pay their fine on the spot with a card will be unable to continue their journey.
