The Region of Brussels' Minister-President Rudi Vervoort and Minster for International Relations Pascal Smet have opened a new economic representation on Thursday in the Moroccan capital, Rabat.

The move followed closely on the heels of a five-year economic cooperation agreement between both regions, concluded on Wednesday.

Information posted on Hub.Brussels, the economic network of the Brussels Region, noted that there was still great potential for trade relations between Brussels and Rabat, with language and proximity mentioned as assets.

In 2020 Morocco was in 42nd place among the most important export countries for Belgium.

The economic representation in Rabat will be headed by François De Vrije.
