A police officer was injured on Saturday evening during a routine traffic stop at a police checkpoint on a road in Theux, in the province of Liège. The suspect failed to stop for police, evading the roadblock, and striking the officer with his vehicle.
A chase between the police and the suspect quickly ensued between the municipalities of Pepinster and Verviers. The suspect was eventually intercepted by police and arrested.

The policeman’s injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. The case has now been presented to the Liège public prosecutor’s office, who have begun investigating the case.
