A recent survey by the trade and services federation Comeos has revealed that Belgians spend €3.5 billion each year on their pets.
On Wednesday, Comeos published the findings of a recent survey of 2,500 Belgians, showing that 53% of Belgians are pet owners, a 10% increase compared to 2018.
As a result, Belgians are spending billions on food, toys, care, and medicine for their pets. This is an 11% increase in the last four years. Additionally, 45% of pet owners now buy food online, up from 28% in 2018.

Furthermore, the survey also showed that Belgium now has around 1.6 million domestic dogs, with each owner spending an average of €549 euros per year on food for their pet, and 2.3 million cats, a 3% decrease in 2018.
