Local police from the Kempenland zone arrested three suspects in Peer on Wednesday afternoon for severely beating a 30-year-old man from Houthalen-Helchteren, press magistrate Pieter Strauven of the Limburg public prosecutor's office said on Wednesday evening.
The man reportedly went to visit his 35-year-old ex-partner and forced his way into her home on the Achtzamehedenstraat in Peer. Alarmed relatives of the woman rushed to the home, where they assaulted the 30-year-old. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries but is out of danger.
Kempenland police arrested three suspects aged 18, 22 and 32, and took them in for questioning. The Limburg Public Prosecutor's Office contacted a medical doctor to take a look at the victim's injuries.
The federal police lab and lab support team visited the scene of the incident.
