Two adult suspects aged 20 and 46 were placed under an arrest warrant by an investigating judge on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in a fatal shooting that took place on Sunday in Beringen.

This was confirmed by Pieter Strauven, press magistrate for the Limburg public prosecutor's office.

Two minors had already been arrested in connection with the shooting, in which a 24-year-old Antwerp resident lost his life.

The residents of Brugstraat in Beringen were surprised by gunshots on Sunday at around 4.30 p.m. A 24-year-old man suffered severe gunshot wounds and later died in hospital.

Two minors from the Antwerp region arrested in the aftermath of the shooting appeared on Tuesday morning before a juvenile judge in Turnhout, who decided to place them in a closed institution.

The press magistrate had also confirmed on Tuesday evening that two adults had been detained in Turnhout on Monday.

The Limburg federal judicial police are in charge of the investigation under the direction of the investigating judge of Hasselt.
