Responsible Young Drivers (an organisation that raises awareness about driving under the influence among young drivers) will mark European Night Without Accident by going to discotheques across Flanders between Saturday evening and Sunday morning to encourage young people not to drink and drive.

The association's volunteers will go to the Carré in Willebroek, the Versuz in Hasselt and the Kokorico in Lievegem looking for partygoers who may need assistance.

Drivers will first be asked whether they wish to have an alcohol test. If they have less than 0.5/1000 of alcohol in their blood, and can thus drive safely, they will receive a goodie bag.

European Night Without Accidents is part of the All-For-Zero project aimed at achieving zero road deaths. Anyone who has had too much to drink will be able to see together with the volunteers how he or she can get home safely, for example by riding with a sober friend, using public transport or taking a taxi.

This is the 27th time that Responsible Young Drivers Flanders organises European Night Without Accident. Last year, tests conducted during the campaign showed that 88 percent of the drivers remained below the legal alcohol limit of 0.5 per thousand.
