At his arrival in Indonesia for the G20 summit on Monday, Russian Foreign Affairs Minister Sergey Lavrov was taken to hospital, the Associated Press reported, information which has been denied by the Kremlin.

Two Indonesian officials told the AP that Lavrov had been treated in hospital for a heart condition. Bali Governor Wayan Koster later confirmed that the 72-year-old was in the hospital for a "medical check-up" and was "immediately returned" to his hotel.

However, this has been strongly denied both by the Russian Foreign Ministry and Lavrov himself. Maria Zakharova, a spokesperson for the ministry, stated in a Telegram post that the report was "the height of fakery."

A video then circulated of Lavrov in which the minister can be seen in shorts at a small table. He denies the rumours about his health issues and told Western journalists to "write the truth more often."
