The nominees for the 2023 Flemish Music Industry Awards (MIA) were unveiled on Wednesday. While Stromae, perhaps unsurprisingly, has come out on top with nine nominations, female performers make up a large part of the remaining nominees.

The MIA are annual awards presented by the Flemish public broadcaster VRT in collaboration with Kunstenpunt (Flanders' arts institute); the next award ceremony will take place on 26 January 2023 at Palais 12 in Brussels though the nominees were announced on Wednesday, with some big names near the top of the list.

Stromae has been nominated in nine different categories, including Best Album, Male Artist, and Producer, with Brussels' pop princess Angèle also nominated for seven additional prizes.

The rest of the list is dominated by female acts Charlotte Adigéry, Pommelien Thijs, and CAMILLE, who were nominated in eight, five, and four categories, respectively.

The jury is now out as music professionals and the general public have until 11 December to vote for their favourite acts on the mias.be website.
