Remote cameras will soon be able to fine cars without valid inspection certificates in Flanders, following a decision by the regional government, Mobility Minister Lydia Peeters and Finance Minister Matthias Diependaele reported on Friday.
Remote cameras can already check for excessive speed and compliance with traffic lights, among other things. Technical inspection violations are now being added to the list.
The decision also allows Flanders to compile statistics on the number of uninspected vehicles on its roads.
According to Mobility Minister Peeters, the measure should improve road safety in the region.
