The city of Hasselt decided on Friday evening to cancel the fireworks show planned to usher in the new year because of the wind/rain forecast by the Royal Meteorological Institute.
Private individuals can set off fireworks between 11 p.m. on Saturday and 1 a.m. on Sunday without a special permit.
However, they are asked to be careful and to take both humans and animals into account.
