The strike by Ryanair’s Belgium-based cabin crew is causing the cancellation of 42 flights to and from Charleroi airport this Saturday, compared to 48 on Friday, CEO Philippe Verdonck has told Belga news agency.

Thirty-eight flights are also expected to be cancelled on Sunday.

Flight attendants at the Belgium-based low-cost airline began to strike on Friday in order to protest against Ryanair’s refusal to guarantee the legal minimum wage.

The action continues this Saturday and Sunday 1 January, with additional cancellations of flights expected next weekend on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 January.

“The situation is calm at the airport because the passengers affected by the cancellations have been already warned,” Philippe Verdonck added.
