Twice as many direct flights between Brussels and Beijing

Twice as many direct flights between Brussels and Beijing

The number of weekly direct flights operated by Hainan Airlines between Brussels and Beijing will be increased from two to four as of next week, an airport spokesperson confirmed on Friday.

Until now, the company operated two round trips per week between the two capitals.

In the Belgium-China direction, a mandatory quarantine stop was made in Xi’an. However, the Chinese government has decided to relax the sanitary measures from Sunday.

As a result, Hainan can now offer direct flights between Brussels and Beijing on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Due to the new wave of Coronavirus infections in China, European countries have adopted a series of preventive measures.

Wastewater from flights from China will be tested at Brussels Airport, starting on Saturday morning. Aviapartner, a handling partner of Hainan Airlines, will charter a special truck for this task.

An employee of Saniport, the Federal Public Health Department’s international risk service, will then collect a sample that will be sent to a laboratory in Leuven.

In a next phase, travellers will also have to present a negative Covid-19 test on arrival.
