Two Iranian men accused of killing a soldier during the latest protests that have swept the country were hung on Saturday. As a result, they became the third and fourth individuals to be executed in the country since the start of these protests.
Since Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish woman, died in police custody on 16 September after having violated the Iranian dress code, various protests calling for improved women's rights have taken place all over the country, despite violent repression from authorities.
On 3 November, a member of Iran's paramilitary group the Basij militia was found dead with authorities subsequently accusing two protestors Mohammad Mahdi Karami and Seyed Mohammad Hosseini of having committed the murder.
