Brussels Airport revealed on Wednesday that it welcomed almost 19 million passengers for flights in 2022 – double the amount in 2021. These figures reached 72% of their passenger numbers in 2019, the final year before the Covid-19 pandemic.

On Wednesday, Brussels Airport unveiled the figures of their flights and passengers in 2022, which indicated that the airport is on course to return to pre-pandemic levels.

This rise in passengers came despite the airport having to contend with Covid-19 travel restrictions throughout the first six months of 2022, as well as three separate strike actions throughout the year.

In addition, the airport revealed that the total number of flights had risen 51% to 178,930 in 2022, with passenger flights increasing 73% compared to 2021. However, the total number of flights still remained about a quarter lower than in 2019.
