There are currently no trains running between Hasselt and Genk, in Limburg, due to vandalism, rail network manager Infrabel reported on Saturday morning.

“Following an attempt to steal cables, the signalling equipment necessary for the movement of trains has been cut,” stated spokesperson Frederic Petit.

Infrabel’s technical teams are now working on repairing the damage which was caused by the vandals.

Replacement buses for passengers are being deployed by SNCB between the cities of Hasselt and Genk.
