The Kansas City Chiefs are set to play the Philadelphia Eagles at the 57th edition of the National Football League (NFL)'s Super Bowl – the final of the professional American football championship to be played on 12 February in Glendale, Arizona.

The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Cincinnati Bengals, 23-20. According to Sports Illustrated, “the play of quarterback Patrick Mahomes was a major reason why.”

Mahomes played through the pain after spraining his ankle just eight days before. Mahomes ran a five-yard scramble with 17 seconds left in the game, which allowed Harrison Butker to make his 43-yard field goal and win the game. According to the NFL, Patrick Mahomes is responsible for 323 of the Chief's 357 net yards on Sunday.

The Philadelphia Eagles were unbeatable against the San Francisco 49ers whom they dominated 31-7. They never wavered throughout the game, with the 49ers suffering a third defeat in four years at the penultimate hurdle by just missing out on the Super Bowl.

With US First Lady Jill Biden looking on, Philadelphia managed all four of its rushing touchdowns. The Guardian reports, "Jalen Hurts had one of Philadelphia's four rushing touchdowns and the Eagles soared into the Super Bowl."

The Eagles, who will be playing in the fourth Super Bowl in their history, are hoping to add a second title after their win against New England in 2017.

In addition to the upcoming game, the NFL has announced that Rhianna, nine time grammy winner, will perform during the 57th Super Bowl halftime show. "We are thrilled to welcome Rhianna to the Apple Music Super Bowl half time show stage. Rhianna is a once in a generation artist," stated NFL's Head of Music, Seth Dubowski.
