Colruyt has decided, in consultation with the Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (FASFC), to withdraw from sale the 150-gramme Boni Selection “block pâté” the supermarket chain said in a statement on Monday.

Colruyt took the step due to the potential presence of Listeria monocytogenes in the product,

The offending products were sold in Colruyt shops in Belgium and via Collect&Go between 28 January and 6 February this year, inclusive. They carry best-before dates (BBD) of 21/2/2023, 26/2/2023 and 28/2/2023.

Customers who have purchased this product are advised not to consume it and to return it to the shop, where it will be refunded, Colruyt added, saying the affected products have been removed from its shelves.

Infection with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria can be dangerous for young children, pregnant women, immunocompromised people and the elderly, the chain reminded.

Possible symptoms include nausea and vomiting, abdominal cramps, diarrhoea, constipation, headaches and persistent fever. These symptoms typically occur within 2 to 60 days of consumption.

People who have consumed this product and experience such symptoms are advised to consult their GP, the store added.
