An industrial fire at the Maatheide zone in Lommel morning broke out on Tuesday at an upholstery company at around 06:30 in the morning. Shortly after the alert, the North Limburg Fire Brigade rushed to the site.
Some 50 firefighters were deployed to fight the fire, and the mayor of Lommel Bob Nijs confirmed that by around 08:30, the firefighters had the situation under control.
The flames were prevented from spreading to surrounding buildings and no injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. The Zoink company is engaged in furniture making, furniture upholstery, curtains and wall coverings, among others.
The shed that caught light was completely destroyed and resulted in heavy smoke. The fire brigade has taken continuous measurements to monitor the air quality surrounding the site.
