Among those feeling overlooked and unappreciated at some time in our careers, new ways of dealing with such disappointment have emerged. The latest one, popularised through TikTok videos, is called rage-applying.

Unlike previous generations, Generation Z employees are recognising the signs of a toxic workplace or reacting to low wages and insufficient opportunities. Instead of burning out, they channelled it through ‘quiet quitting’, which is essentially doing the bare minimum in response to the amount of salary offered.

However, the new trend is now rage-applying, which is the phenomenon of simultaneously applying to dozens, or in some cases even hundreds, of different jobs when feeling burnt out or distressed at your current job.

The RTBF collected a few stories from TikTok, where workers told tales of being mistreated, taken advantage of and unjustly denied promotions before reaching their breaking point and taking action.

Some claim that within days or weeks of rattling off dozens of online applications, they received multiple job offers with substantial increases in salary.

Others have gone further than just being satisfied with the responses and have acted on these offers, taking up new, better-paid employment under more attentive and caring management.
