Seven people were overcome by smoke after a fire broke out in an apartment building in Brussels on Tuesday morning. No one had to be transferred to the hospital, according to the Brussels fire brigade.

The fire started on the twelfth floor of an apartment building on Boulevard Edmond Machtens in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, causing a thick cloud of smoke. The building was quickly evacuated. Seven people had inhaled smoke and needed care.

"One of our firefighters was also slightly affected by the smoke but he can continue his shift after being cared for," said fire brigade spokesman Walter Derieuw. "The fire, which was raging in an electrical installation, is now fully under control and extinguished. We are ventilating the building and checking for the presence of carbon monoxide (CO)."
