A car crashed onto the back of a train in the Flemish Brabant on Thursday morning, disrupting rail traffic between the Walloon municipalities of Enghien and Ath.

Infrabel, which maintains Belgium's rail infrastructure, confirmed that the accident occurred at a level crossing: "The motorist is clearly at fault," Infrabel stated, before adding that the crossing' gates were closed as the train was passing.

The car's driver was unharmed, with further medical attention not necessary. But the incident has disrupted rail traffic and it is not yet clear when normal service can resume.
