A motorist in his twenties was killed in a collision with a garbage truck at 05:00 on Friday in the Flemish city of Hasselt, in the province of Limburg. Firefighters had to free the body of the victim who was trapped within his vehicle, local emergency services report.
Police arrived on the scene to carry out preliminary investigations. The road was closed to traffic, before being reopened at 08:15.
The prosecutor’s office has appointed a traffic expert to the case to investigate the exact circumstances behind the crash.
