A new contemporary art location in Ixelles opened this week, one which the founder says defies categorisation.

"Not a gallery, not a museum, but a meeting and creation place, a place where the word expresses itself, a bustling place..." This is how founder Thomas de Wouters' described Fondation blan in a recent interview with Bruzz.

The new location, on Boulevard Général Jacques, will feature national and international artists, both emerging and established, regardless of their mode of expression, with exhibits remaining on show for between one to three months. Visual arts and music, literature, performances, film and theatre… The Fondation says it will welcome it all.

“We invite artists who are part of the spirit of the foundation, who interpret and question meaning and critical thinking with a constant quest for aesthetic research,” the Fondation’s website reads.

During the four-day inauguration, which runs from March 23-26, visual artist Stephan Balleux will curate his exhibition 'Artificialia'. There will also be workshops for children, a prose lecture by Elya Verdal, accompanied by piano and voice, and a performance "between concert and theatrical display" from Josse de Pauw and the Kris Defoort trio.
