Police arrested five people in the Borgerhout district of Antwerp on the night of Friday to Saturday. The suspects allegedly planned to detonate an explosive device, reported the Antwerp public prosecutor's office.
"The link with the drug environment is being investigated," the prosecutor's office said. Two Belgians, aged 22 and 19, were arrested along with three Dutch nationals, aged 25, 30 and a minor.
The suspects have yet to be arraigned. Only once they are will the public prosecutor's office be able to give more information.
