The Korean Cultural Centre of Brussels has invited The Korea National Contemporary Dance Company (KNDCD) to perform in the double-billed shows Mechanism and Everything Falls Dramatic in Brussels on 16 April at the Royal Flemish Theatre.
The highly praised and iconic contemporary dance company will be returning to Brussels after performing their Immixture show at Theatre Varia in 2017.
The show is composed of two different performances.
Everything Falls Dramatic
The first, Everything Falls Dramatic, is directed by Sung Im Her. Sung Im Her is a contemporary dancer and choreographer from Seoul. She moved to Brussels in 2004 to perform at Performing Arts Research and Training Studios (P.A.R.T.S.). She will be presenting her show in Brussels, as well as Madrid and the UK.
Sung Im Her is well-known for her ability to showcase bold themes and raise questions about stereotypes through her choreography. Everything Falls Dramatic will portray the theme of "things that disappear and fall" that are encountered in life.

Mechanism
The second performance on the bill, Mechanism, is choreographed by Jaeyoung Lee who founded the dance company SIGA. He began the company to communicate and sympathise with others through dance. SIGA is an acronym for a Korean word that translates to "little by little".

Lee's art comes to life on the stage through his choreography. Mechanism showcases a movement of resistance within a system. The performance will represent that everything in this world belongs to a system including space, earth, civilisation, society and humans. "While structures and systems exist, movements to escape from them generate energy, thereby creating a mechanism," said the Culture Center in its press release.
This show will be the first cultural event in celebration of the 60th anniversary of Korea-EU diplomatic relations, the Korean Cultural Center said in a press release.
The KNDCD is Korea's only national contemporary dance company, the Korean Cultural Center said. The dance company aspires to tell stories of history and society for all generations across different regions to enjoy.
