The 30th edition of Nuits Botanique, which kicked off on Friday night, will allow the public to discover 120 Belgian and international artists as well as eight original creations and numerous special projects. It will run until 12 May at the verdant Botanique site in Brussels.

The festival gives pride of place to Belgian culture, offering an eclectic line-up with artists such as Rori, the Brussels duo Rive, the Liège-based group Dan San, but also Julien Granel and Mustii. The Belgian music scene will also be in the spotlight at 17 release parties, where the public can discover previews of albums.

As usual, Nuits Botaniques (Botanical Nights) will be synonymous with creation. Audiences will be able to discover eight productions initiated specifically by and for the event, some of which will be extended to other festivals.

In addition, ten special projects will transport audiences to other emblematic venues in the capital such as the Bozar, Dominican Church and the prestigious Notre-Dame de Laeken Church, which will host November Ultra, the female revelation of the Victoires de la Musique, on 5 May.

Lovers of classical and contemporary music will be able to (re)discover the works of composers such as Béla Bartók, György Ligeti, Erwin Schulhoff and Sergei Prokofiev, performed by pianist Stéphane Ginsburgh, on 10 May.

Young ears have not been forgotten either, and will be honoured during the Bota Kids. On 30 April, a morning session “Around Spanish music” will be dedicated to them and, on 7 May, musicians Laurence Mekhitarian and Vardan Hovanassian will present Armenia in music.
