Belgium's Prime Minister Alexander De Croo and the State Secretary for the Budget Alexia Bertrand on Tuesday paid a visit to the offices of the Womenpreneur Tech Program.

The initiative was launched by the Brussels-Capital Region Government to provide tech training programmes for women in search of employment.

After completing a three-month-long course, the programme's participants acquire new professional skills in graphic design, digital marketing and web development, and are given the opportunity to intern at a company.

The Budget Secretary applauded the initiative, which is organised in collaboration with the regional training service Bruxelles Formation. "I think it’s great what’s happening here,” Bertrand stated, lauding the fact that it allows "women to find their own way" in their professional journeys.

De Croo struck the same note, explaining that "the digital sector has very quickly become very male-dominated but there is no reason why it should stay that way."

The Prime Minister also commented that "women have a different perspective on the world," and that the training would allow for "a lot to be changed within the digital field."
