Prosecution asks for suspension for ex-scout leader who shared nude photos

The public prosecutor in the Hasselt Correctional Court on Friday requested a suspension for a former scout leader from Sint-Truiden who made nude photos available via a file-sharing programme.

The prosecution apologised to the victims because the case had been stalled for two years, a factor that had had an impact on it.

The 27-year-old collected nude photos of 199 women, arranged them in a large folder, which he then made available, together with an accompanying link, through a file-sharing programme.

The victims appeared to be from Sint-Truiden and the surrounding area.

The man engaged in the offences between November 2017 and 20 March 2018. However, his scope of action went beyond collecting the nude images: he was apparently on an Internet forum, where the various folders containing the images were available, according to the accused.

Through the 'mega.nz' site, other users, including friends from the scout movement and football, could get hold of the 199 folders. At some point, the account in question was blocked from New Zealand.
