A hospital in Namur was targeted in a cyberattack on Friday morning and is reportedly limiting its services until further notice.

The Namur site of the Regional Hospital Centre of Sambre and Meuse (CHRSM) is only taking in extreme emergencies or urgent baby deliveries, it said in a statement. The Sambre branch was also affected but to a lesser extent.

The Namur Hospital is still receiving patients for IVF procedures and the Sexual Violence Support Center is still open.

“Patients who are already hospitalised are safe within the hospital because we have developed manual processes and our equipment works,” reassured the management. “It is our communication applications that are impacted.”

The telephone connection of the CHRSM is not working, but two phone lines have been set up for urgent and necessary communications.
