Several people had to be taken to hospital after a fire broke out in the Flemish municipality of Deurne in the Antwerp region on Thursday evening. Four people are said to be in critical condition.
The local fire brigade was called to the back of a building for people in assisted living at around 22:15, after one of the 14 flats caught on fire.
The firefighters managed to put out the flames by 23:30 but not without casualties, as multiple inhabitants had been transported to hospital.
Moreover, the building is currently inhabitable, with smoke still engulfing the flats.
