Due to the dry and warm weather, the grass pollen in the air will reach the highest level in the coming days.
It will not be just the temperature rising sharply this week, but also the concentration of grass pollen in the air.
The Royal Meteorological Institute (RMI) is advising people suffering from allergies to avoid outdoor activities.
Just one week after the start of the grass pollen season, almost all of Flanders is coloured purple (the highest risk level) on the RMI's forecast map.
Due to the summer temperatures and the dry weather, grasses pollen is being spread en masse in recent days, causing runny noses, watery eyes and sneezing fits for those who are allergic.

However, the situation will worsen in the next week and will peak on Thursday.
Especially on hot and windy days, when the pollen is blown through the air, people with allergies are likely to develop strong symptoms.
Those who suffer from hay fever a lot are advised to avoid outdoor activities as much as possible, wear sunglasses when outside, not dry their laundry outside, blow (or even rinse) their nose regularly, and wash their hair before going to sleep.
