Introduced at the end of 2022, the option to request an instalment plan to pay a road fine has already had more than 18,000 applicants, the Minister of Justice Vincent Van Quickenborne said on Sunday.
The request can be made via Just-on-web where recipients of a fine can choose the number of monthly instalments desired, with a maximum of six months. The majority of people concerned (65%) opt for this maximum.
In 87.53% of cases, all the monthly instalments are paid on time. Citizens are informed by email of the progress of the payment plan, but can also monitor its status via Just-on-web.
