Ostend-Bruges and Antwerp airports, operated by the Flemish Region and French aviation player Egis, expect some 160,000 passengers in July and August.
"This figure is in line with last summer," the regional airports announced on Tuesday last week.
More specifically, Ostend-Bruges airport expects to welcome 90,000 passengers in July and August. Antwerp airport expects 70,000 passengers.
At the end of last year, the Flemish government decided to keep the regional airports open with a "long-term vision" until 2040.
The airports depend on public money, amounting to some €200 million a year. The Flemish government is stressing their "economic importance" and its goals for the "sustainable development of airports in the future."
