Irish fashion retailer Primark unveiled their recently renovated store on Rue Neuve this Tuesday. The store, famous for inexpensive clothing, has more than doubled the size of the locations and recruited an additional 70 employees, reports Belgian media.

Expanding from a surface area of 1,500 square metres to 3,500 square metres, the store is now the third largest Primark in Belgium with the first being in Antwerp at 5,900 square metres, and the second largest on Chaussée d’Ixelles in Brussels at 5,500 square metres.

The expansion took 30 weeks, with the store remaining open for the entire duration of the renovation.

The extra floor of the Rue Neuve store now contains a children’s clothing section, an expansion of the home and beauty departments, and four ‘relaxation zones’ where customers can sit and recharge their phones.

The number of employees has similarly increased alongside the store size. 70 extra employees have been recruited to the Rue Neuve shop, 47 of whom have never worked before.

Belgium has 8 Primark stores in total, and globally Primark currently has 372 stores across 11 countries, with more than 75,000 employees.
