The police station on the Parvis de Saint-Gilles was set on fire on Thursday night, according to the Brussels-Midi police zone, confirming a report in the daily La Capitale. No injuries were reported and damage was limited.

"An unknown person set fire to the police station at around 03:00," said police zone spokesperson Sarah Frederickx. "The front door and lobby were damaged, but the rest of the building was left undamaged. No one was injured."

According to La Capitale, the perpetrator used a Molotov cocktail to set fire to the building. His motives are not yet known.

"We are considering all possibilities, from an individual from an anarchist background to an act of retaliation for the actions we have taken against the drug scene in recent weeks," added the spokesperson.
