Stand-up paddle rides will take place every Sunday this summer on a stretch of the Sambre at Marchienne-au-Pont in Charleroi, characterised by its industrial landscape.

Organised for the second year running, these urbex outings are proving a great success, particularly as stand-up paddling continues to enjoy its popularity.

Marie Voght, who organises the rides in Charleroi through her company Tour du monde en Belgique, promotes it as a way to disconnect and discover Belgium in an unusual way while exploring unchartered landscapes along the river.

The tours organised in Charleroi every Sunday, from the beginning of May to the end of September, bring their participants into contact with industrial or post-industrial landscapes. Many of the iron and steel factory sites visible along the Sambre river are no longer in operation.

During each visit, Marie Voght welcomes between 10 and 20 participants and provides them with the necessary equipment.
