Starting in 2020, bpost will only deliver mail two times per week.
From 2011 to 2018, the number of letters delivered per day decreased by over 4 million letters, and, according to bpost, 80% of stamps sold are not "prioritised."
Therefore, starting in 2o20, non-priority mail will be delivered on Mondays and Wednesdays only, according to Le Soir.
The decision to eliminate daily mail delivery came this past July and was originally scheduled to start in 2021. The start date for reduced mail delivery was moved up to 2020 after officials saw a faster than expected decline in letters delivered each day.
Priority mail like parcels, newspapers, registered letters, and death notices will still be delivered every day.
