Rave party in Brasschaat military estate over

The rave party that had been held since Friday on the Groot Schietveld military estate in Brasschaat has come to an end.

The provincial governor, Cathy Berx, believes that the preventive measures taken, such as closing and controlling access, played an important role in the swift management of this illegal party. “We also emphasised that this was active military ground” and therefore dangerous, “people could hear that”.

A dozen people, however, refused to leave on their own, while others were unable to do so as they were under the influence of substances. “So we set up an advanced medical post,” Berx said.

Both participants and organisers face prosecution if identified. Equipment, such as the sound system, has been seized to prevent it being used at another rave party this weekend.
