A driver who caused a serious traffic accident in a Brussels municipality which left five people injured faces up to ten years imprisonment, according to media reports on Tuesday.

An unnamed BMW driver injured five people when he collided with a Ford Focus at 4:50 AM in Jules de Trooz square, located in Brussels municipality Woluwe Saint-Lambert, on Tuesday morning.

Prior to the accident, the driver was spotted by police speeding on Allée Verte. Noticing his dangerous driving, the police began to chase the driver. It was in this chase that the BMW driver crashed into the Ford Focus, injuring five people.

Whilst each of the victims have been taken to hospital, none of their injuries are critical.

The driver, who was also injured, was arrested and now faces between five and ten years imprisonment, according to Bruzz.

The Jules de Trooz intersection was recently deemed one of the three most dangerous intersections in Brussels, according to a survey conducted by Bruzz.
