French-speaking festivals have put measures into place to prevent sexual harassment this summer.

The NGO Plan International Belgium announced Wednesday that it would work with festivals to create awareness campaigns and provide resources for victims of sexual harassment and assault at festivals, according to Le Soir.

Last year, Plan International Belgium launched the #safestival campaign and surveyed festival-goers to find one in six women had been harassed at festivals in the last three years.

There is now an annual budget of 250,000 euros to raise awareness about sexual assault at festivals.

Festivals Esperanzah!,  Solidarités, Jyva'zik, and the 24H Vélo de Louvain-La-Neuve will have prevention and awareness-raising campaigns on site, as well as a system in place to assist victims of gender-based and sexual violence.
