Hotels on the Coast have recorded fewer bookings than last year for the National Holiday long weekend, figures from tourism agency Westtoer showed on Thursday.

Occupancy is 10 percentage points lower than in 2022.

Bookings at coastal hotels point to 80% occupancy for the extended weekend. “There are fewer last-minute bookings than last year,” Westtoer reported. “At this time, hotel occupancy was more than 90%.”

On the other hand, the number of bookings by foreign tourists is up by 6% compared to the same period in 2022.

Visitors wishing to have an overview of Belgium's beaches and their attractions can consult the Coast website  Homepage the Belgian Coast | De Kust.

“Those who wish to do so will be able to search quickly and efficiently for a quieter spot,” the tourist agency assures.
