Ryanair pilots will be on strike once again in the last weekend of July, two weeks after taking similar action, CNE/ACV Puls union announced on Friday evening.

The staff representatives regret that the airline’s management has still not come up with a concrete proposal in response to their grievances.

The Irish airline’s pilots are demanding that their pay be restored after cuts conceded at the time of the Covid-19 pandemic. They are also pointing to problems with their rest time. Several meetings have been held between the pilots’ representatives and the company, to no avail.

Denouncing “the company’s total disrespect for the pilots,” CNE/ACV Puls is  organising a strike on 29 and 30 July. That will mainly affect operations at Charleroi airport since, although Ryanair also operates flights at Zaventem, the aircraft it uses there are not based in Belgium.

During the previous strike on 15 and 16 July, the management of Charleroi airport (BSCA) estimated that almost four out of ten passengers (38%) were affected by a cancelled flight in the middle of the holiday period. More than 80% of Ryanair’s pilots took part in that strike and 120 flights were cancelled that weekend.
