Investigation opened into Tomorrowland staff member death

A judicial investigation has been opened following the death of the Tomorrowland employee whose body was found on the staff campsite of the festival.

"The death was probably drug-related", said the Public Prosecutor's Office on Saturday. The victim was a 26-year-old man.

The forensic pathologist and the medical examiner went to the site on Friday night to carry out the initial examinations. These findings suggest that the cause of death was drugs", said the public prosecutor. No traces of violence were found at the scene.

The Antwerp Public Prosecutor's Office has referred the case to an investigating judge, who will order an autopsy and toxicological analysis to shed further light on the circumstances of the death.

At around 3:00, the famous music festival announced the loss of one of its team members.

The emergency services were unable to save the young man's life. "First and foremost, we sympathise with the family and friends. Our condolences go out to them," said Tomorrowland spokesperson Debby Wilmsen.
