Brussels Airlines will continue to serve airports on the Greek islands of Rhodes and Corfu, both of which are currently hit by forest fires, the airline told Belga News Agency on Monday.

During the weekend, tour operators TUI, Sunweb and Corendon decided not to fly tourists to these destinations for the time being. But on Sunday, Brussels Airlines hinted that it would continue to fly to Rhodes.

This decision was confirmed on Monday. “Rhodes airport is open and our flights remain scheduled. As was the case yesterday (Sunday), we can see today (Monday) that the outbound flight is not very busy and that the return flight is well booked. We have one flight scheduled on Monday, two on Tuesday and one flight each day thereafter, except Friday,” a company spokesperson stated.

Brussels Airlines flights to Corfu – where there are also fires leading to evacuations – “also remain scheduled. Our two flights this week are scheduled for Thursday and Sunday.”
