At least 2,000 Red Devils fans are expected to travel for the national football team's European Championship qualifier game in Vienna in October, as part of a Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) campaign.

The game marks the first that the Red Devils will be playing on Austrian soil since their 0-2 win over a decade ago.

On 25 March 2011, 2,000 Belgian supporters in Vienna saw the Red Devils win against Austria. The Red Devils will not have played on Austrian soil since Friday 13 October 2023.

As part of the #WirSchaffenDas (translated as we can do it) campaign, the RBFA and the Official Belgian Fanclub 1895 want to exceed the number of supporters from 12 years ago – aiming to gather at least 2,000 fans at the Allianz Stadium in Vienna to support the Red Devils.

Last month, the Red Devils welcomed Austria to a sold-out King Baudouin Stadium. The game ended in a draw, and so the Devils want to do better in the return match on 13 October.

"The game against Austria was my first home game with Belgium. At the time, the supporters blew me away and gave me an incredible reception. It was not an easy match, but the home advantage gave us extra strength," said Red Devils coach Domenico Tedesco.

What is the #WirSchaffenDas campaign?

The RBFA is pushing for a record number of Belgian supporters in Austria in support of the Red Devils, but also as a tribute to the Official Belgian Fan Club 1895 and its founder Erik Reynaerts.

The 25 March 2011 match was a symbolic one for Fan Club 1895. Led by Erik Reynaerts, 2,000 supporters made the journey to Austria, supporting for the first time under the name of Official Belgian Fan Club 1895. And it brought the team luck, as Belgium beat Austria 0-2 in Vienna.

Reynaerts passed away in 2016, but fan club members have not forgotten him: the 13 October match will therefore be dedicated to the founding father of Fan Club 1895.

Following that game in 2011, the fan club has continued to grow and has over 11,100 members today. Of these, RBFA hopes to see at least 2,000 at the stadium in Vienna on Friday 13 October – marking a successful continuation of the #WirSchaffenDas campaign.

The campaign was launched to support the Red Devils ahead of the European Championship. After the giant tifo with over 23,000 supporters for the match in Sweden, the Red Devils Express (a bus column with Belgian supporters) for the friendly against Germany, and the glowing red stadium for the home match against Austria, the supporters' legion in Vienna is the next #WirSchaffenDas initiative.

For the game in Azerbaijan on Saturday 9 September and the home match against Estonia on Tuesday 12 September, the RBFA is also working on more #WirSchaffenDas initiatives.

Those wishing to cheer on the Red Devils in Austria can buy tickets via the RBFA app or the tickets.rbfa.be website. Supporters must be members of the official fan club 1895 to do so. More info on rbfa.be/en/1895-official-belgian-fan-club.
