Liège rapper Maka has been remanded in custody for a week now at Lantin prison in Juprelle, Liège Province, for kidnapping and beating his sister's boyfriend, the Liège public prosecutor's office said on Friday afternoon, confirming a report by Sudinfo.
On 2 August, Bryan Galantin, aka Maka, went to find his sister's boyfriend in Cointe park, where the latter was playing football with friends. With the help of a friend, Maka intimidated the 17-year-old before hitting him several times and locking him in the boot of his car.
The victim lodged a complaint and, two days later, the two perpetrators were arrested by the police. At his hearing, Maka broadly confessed to the acts but denied a number of details, the Liège public prosecutor's office said.
The rapper was placed under an arrest warrant for arbitrary detention and intentional assault and battery and, on Friday, the Council Chamber extended his preventive detention.
